Know when to go broad, when to use custom and lookalike audiences, and how to exclude people you should not pay to reach.

In this lesson you’ll learn to

  • I know the four audience types
  • I build lookalikes from best customers
  • I exclude customers and converters
  • I consolidate ad sets

Audience types

• Broad — location, age range and little else.

• Detailed targeting — interests and behaviours, increasingly used as suggestions.

• Custom audiences — website visitors, video viewers, engagers, customer lists.

• Lookalikes — people similar to your best customers.

Advantage+ options

Meta’s automated audience and placement options expand delivery. Use them, but watch lead quality.

Exclusions

Exclude existing customers, recent converters and employees. Respect geographic limits of the offer.

Retargeting

Retarget site visitors and video viewers with proof and objection-handling ads.

Consolidate

Fewer, larger ad sets learn faster than many tiny ones.
