Know who you are up against, how they position themselves and where they are weak. A simple competitor grid shows you exactly where to stand out.

In this lesson you’ll learn to

  • I listed direct, indirect and “do nothing” competitors
  • I filled in the competitor grid for at least three competitors
  • I checked ad libraries for live competitor ads
  • I identified a gap customers care about

Who counts as a competitor

• Direct — same product for the same customer.

• Indirect — different product solving the same problem.

• Doing nothing — often your biggest competitor. Many customers simply put up with the problem.

The competitor grid

For three to five competitors, record: target customer, main promise, price and model, offer and guarantee, channels they advertise on, review themes, and obvious weaknesses.

Where to look

• Their website, pricing page and FAQs.

• Ad libraries — Meta Ad Library and Google Ads Transparency Center show ads they are running.

• Search results for your main keywords — who appears, and with what message.

• Reviews (see the previous module).

• Sign up for their newsletter or request a quote to experience their sale
