Most replies come after the first email. Build a respectful multi-step sequence across email, phone and LinkedIn that adds value with every touch.

In this lesson you’ll learn to

  • My sequence has 6–8 touches over about 3 weeks
  • It mixes email, LinkedIn and phone
  • Every touch adds something new
  • I follow strict stop rules

Why follow up

Busy people miss emails, mean to reply later or need a second reminder. Many replies arrive on the second to fourth touch.

A sample 3-week sequence

• Day 1 — email 1 (trigger + problem + ask).

• Day 2 — view their LinkedIn profile; connect with a short note (no pitch).

• Day 4 — email 2: a different angle or a useful resource.

• Day 6 — phone call; leave a short voicemail referencing the email.

• Day 10 — email 3: a brief case example.

• Day 15 — LinkedIn message if connected.

• Day 20 — email 4: polite close (“Should I stop reaching out?”).

Every touch adds value

Never send “just bumping this”. Each step should bring a new angle, insight, resource or example.
